Our world is constantly evolving with new technology and business efficiency. The dental industry is no exception. You see new gadgets and gizmos daily, and dentists are taking notes. We are constantly looking for new ways to improve our patient care. Dentists are able to make their patients more comfortable than ever in the chair, and increase their client base due to new dentistry tools.

We have put together a list of new emerging technology and procedures within the industry that will make difficult dentistry a thing of the past.

  1. Simplifeye – Paired with the Apple Watch and Dentrix, this app is known as the connected office. Dentists are now able to keep all of their patient records, schedules, and procedures right on their wrist for convenience. The use of this new product results in easier patient care and more productivity for the dentists.
  2. Digital X-Rays – Tying in with Simplifeye, Digital X-Rays make it possible to see results in a matter of seconds. Dentists use Simplifeye to examine results right on their wrist. Voice commands can also make it possible to transfer files to other platforms with ease.
  3. Epson Moverio BT-200 Smart Glasses With iDent eye-CAD Connect Software – This device allows dentists to view 3D digital models in real-time and makes for a much more quality scan or impression. These smart glasses are making dentists more efficient, leading to less chair time for the patients.
  4. Lasers – Improving efficiency for the dentist and comfortability for the patients. Laser dentistry is used for a large number of procedures including whitening, filling cavities, and getting rid of tumors. The procedure is painless and eliminates practically all bacteria so you don’t run into the same problem down the road.
  5. Teeth Scanning – Dentists are beginning to use tiny cameras, taking hundreds of pictures of your teeth, in order to make models. The best part: you won’t have to deal with the feeling of goopy impression material in your mouth. It is faster, and even more precise with the measurements than your typical impression.
  6. Kolibree Toothbrush – Electric toothbrushes have been around for quite some time now, but Kolibree toothbrushes are taking the electrical toothbrush to a whole new level. Sensors within the toothbrush make it possible to link gaming apps to children’s brushing techniques. “Rabbids Smart Brush” is the first of its kind. It is an interactive game that entertains and educates children about their oral habits through real-time interactions between brushing your teeth and different Rabbids’ shenanigans.

Not all of these practices are mainstream just yet, but it is definitely something to look forward to. Increasing patient satisfaction is the objective and the dental industry is taking notes. This list is only a tiny portion of what is to come. What new procedures would you like to see?
