Nearly everyone wants that movie star perfect smile, but very few of us are gifted with naturally perfect teeth. Fortunately, modern dentistry can fill in where nature failed us. If you feel self-conscious about the shape, color, or alignment of your teeth, The Dental Care Center can help! Here are four common cosmetic procedures that can help improve your smile as well as your self-confidence and self-esteem.

Whitening

For most people, the number one thing they would do to improve their smile is tooth whitening. You can get whitening kits at just about any department store or pharmacy, but are they worth it? Chances are, the answer is “no”. Instead of wasting your time and money on over the counter whiteners, you should ask your dentist what they would recommend. Your dentist can either match you up with a kit or custom trays that you can use at home, or provide a professional treatment right in their office.

Veneers

Veneers are thin shells that are custom made to fit over your natural teeth. If your teeth are chipped, worn, discolored, or misaligned, veneers can correct their shape and appearance. Your dentist will need to remove a thin layer of your natural tooth enamel in order to fit the veneer properly, so it is an irreversible procedure, but your dentist can advise you on whether or not it is a good option for you. You will need to avoid foods such as coffee and red wine that can stain your teeth and your veneers.

Straightening

We usually think of teenagers when we think of teeth straightening, but it is becoming more and more common for adults to realign and straighten their teeth. There are more options available now than ever before, so don’t rule out tooth straightening just because you want to avoid wearing unsightly metal braces. Clear Correct is one option that can help you achieve perfectly straight teeth using clear, removable trays. Not everyone is a candidate for Clear Correct, so be sure to ask your dentist if this is a good option for you.

Bonding

If you have minor chips or cracks in your teeth, you might want to consider bonding. Bonding is where your dentist places small pieces of tooth colored material over the surface of your teeth. For many people this can be a better option than getting veneers, but it’s best to have a conversation with your dentist before making a decision.

Smile With Confidence

Modern dentistry provides us with so many options for improving our smiles, and the confidence that comes with a beautiful bright smile can make a huge difference in your quality of life. It can help you nail that job interview, make that sale, get a date with your love interest, and stand out both socially and professionally. Talk to your dentist today about taking that first step towards a confident and happy life.
