Dental Care Center Q & A

Q) What prompted you to organize the Free Dental Day event?

A) We believe charity begins at home and wanted to give back to the Eastern NC communities.. We have so many families unable to receive dental treatment simply because they do not have the money or insurance. The health of your teeth and gums affects your overall well-being and we want our residents to be in good health!

Q) What types of dental services are provided?

A) Each patient will be given the choice to see a dentist for a specific problem, or a dental hygienist for cleaning and oral care. Services during Free Dental Day include exams, x-rays, cleanings, fillings and extractions.

Q) Who can obtain free dental care during the event?

A) Anyone. We don't ask financial questions and only require basic information. We ask, "How can we help you?"

We do anticipate many people arriving early to get line as this is a first come first serve event. We anticipate to see approximately 50 people per event. We also realize we must shut things down at some point in time.

B) Unfortunately, not everyone can be accommodated. Many individuals have medical conditions that would require further evaluation by a physician. We encourage those being treated by a physician to speak with their doctor about any restrictions they may have for dental treatment.

Q) Who is sponsoring this event?

A) Many of our sponsors were contacted by the Dental Care Center team, while others offered their services or donations after understanding what a worthy cause Free Dental Day is. Patterson Dental Supply, Henry Schein and Kerr have generously donated supplies for these events.

Q) What are the hours of the event?

A) We begin seeing patients at 8:30 a.m. and plan to help approximately 50 individuals per event. We understand there will come a time that we will have had to turn people away who were willing to wait in line for quite some time. But, we will do our best to provide quality dental treatment to as many people as possible.

If you are in need of dental services, please take advantage of Free Dental Day. The event is hosted at the above listed locations. Doors open at 8:00 a.m. and close once the maximum amount of patients has been reached.

**If you normally take antibiotics for dental work , please bring them with you.

(This is traditionally required for patients with heart murmurs and other heart conditions as well as those with artificial joints, rod and pins and must be taken 1 hour prior to your dental procedure.)

**Children and adults are eligible to receive the free care.

**Any participant under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

**Students from local Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene Programs will perform oral hygiene demonstrations for participants of the event.
