The discomfort from a damaged or severely worn tooth can turn your smile into a frown. Left untreated, you may end up with an awkwardly broken tooth, diseased tooth root, or intense pain. At The Dental Care Center, we restore stability to structurally unsound teeth by applying crowns, inlays, and onlays.
A crown sits atop a damaged tooth to strengthen and protect it. Our dentists use all-ceramic, porcelain-fused-to-metal, and gold crowns. They’ll consider tooth location and stressors to determine which material to use.
Custom crowns take three visits to design and place. After your initial consultation and exam, your dentist will prepare your tooth, take a dental impression, and fit you with a temporary. A ceramist at a trusted lab will hand make your crown to match your natural tooth color. When your restoration is complete, your dentist will remove the temporary and permanently affix your crown to strengthen and beautify your smile.
We may suggest an inlay or onlay if your damaged tooth doesn’t require a full crown but needs more restoration than a filling can provide. An inlay fits between the cusps, or bumps, of a tooth. An onlay fits over one or more bumps. Like crowns, inlays and onlays are custom restorations made in a dental lab.
